Taking the many lessons learned in healthcare, I found a new way to serve people in real estate.
After years spent building my career as an interventional radiology and cardiology specialist, I made the pivotal decision to pursue a new path in real estate. I was very passionate about the work I did and often was helping people at some of the hardest moments of their lives. However, after years in the field, I was ready for a new challenge. One of my greatest motivators is learning new things and finding opportunities for growth. And in real estate, I saw endless potential to do just that.
I originally began my career in X-ray, then expanded my skills to include CAT scan, DEXA, and ultimately specialized in interventional radiology and cardiology. I worked as a traveler, taking on assignments across the country, from Florida, to Atlanta, California, and finally Charlotte. I thought Charlotte would be a temporary stop before heading back to Atlanta, but I completely fell in love with the city, the people, the energy, and the sense of community.
As I started laying down roots here, I realized this was where I wanted to pursue real estate and start a new career. I was especially interested in helping people build wealth through real estate. At 39, I took the leap and dove headfirst into the industry. My only real connections were at the hospital, so I started cold calling.
It was very tough, but I’m very persistent. Growing up with two older brothers I was always playing sports. That has translated into constantly competing with myself to improve and do better. I’m also very fortunate to have very supportive parents. They never doubted me for a second. My dedication proved to be the defining factor. I was able to connect with new people over the phone and gradually started building my business.
Like medicine, real estate is about trust, relationships, and being there for people when it matters most. I’m used to working under pressure and thinking several steps ahead, which allows me to proactively solve problems and ensure smooth experiences for my clients. Most importantly, I bring the same level of care and commitment to my clients as I did to my patients, always putting their best interests first. That includes educating them, offering my professional expertise, and giving them the tools to be successful.
One of my goals when I started in real estate was to flip my first house within the first five years. I was fortunate to do just that. It was the best way to learn, facing a mixture of challenges that gave me even more insight to better guide my clients. What really drives me is learning, growing, and constantly facing new challenges. And in real estate, every client, every home, and every transaction is unique. There is no shortage of problems for me to solve, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and friends. I have family in Ohio and Florida and have made incredible friendships across the country. It gives me a great excuse to travel and reconnect with people who have meant so much to me over the years. I also love anything involving water, trying new restaurants, and exploring this amazing city. My dog, King, is a long-haired German Shepherd who I absolute adore. I also like giving back to animal rescues and organizations, knowing firsthand how important animals are in people’s lives.
Today, I’m proud to be ranked among the top 250 agents in Charlotte. I have led investment projects, renovated homes, and helped clients with everything from relocation to building their investment portfolios. I am licensed in both North and South Carolina and continue to challenge myself to grow and improve each year. What drives me now is the same passion for helping people that guided me in medicine. I am committed to providing exceptional service, building lasting relationships, and making a positive impact on my clients’ lives.
Communication is key throughout the buying and selling process, and I make sure you always know what’s happening next. I’m readily available for questions and focus on building real relationships, not just closing deals. I will always value relationships over transactions every single time. By truly understanding where my clients are come from, I can better serve their needs and help balance the emotional and financial aspects of each decision. With experience flipping homes, I know what adds value to a home and how to spot potential concerns when going to a showing. I’m here as your resource and advocate, offering professional recommendations backed by the latest trends and data, and negotiating on your behalf to secure the best terms. My goal is to provide a high-touch service, so you feel supported every step of the way and long after closing!
Sincerely,
Megan Votruba
